"If you focus on your mountain instead of the face of God, your obstacle will get bigger obscuring his face."

Fundamental to the Lift Study Guide is that heavily hope can be discovered among the ruins of human heartbreak. It is this process of discovery that provides the greatest challenge. By following the suggested template presented within the Lift Study Guide one will begin the journey of connecting hurt with hope.

The first ingredient to rebuilding the walls of hope after devastation is taking time to refocus spiritual vision. In the second chapter of his book, Nehemiah allows us to see this despair. He is obviously discouraged by the ruins of his heritage. It is only after God gave him the perspective of what could be accomplished does Nehemiah turn to action. It is from that point that he focuses on a God-given priority for a God-given people fulfilling a God-given purpose.
(Neh 2:2-3 NIV) so the king asked me, "Why does your face look so sad when you are not ill? This can be nothing but sadness of heart." I was very much afraid, but I said to the king, "May the king live forever! Why should my face not look sad when the city where my fathers are buried lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?"

Likewise, as we face our devastation, we must allow God to refocus our spiritual eyes upon the importance of rebuilding our heritage. Thus, the objective of the Lift Study Guide is to provide the structure for one confronting disability to refocus on the importance of building the walls of their family.

Lift Study Guide sets the scene for each session with a short, practical anecdote. Life Principles are established next, followed by, Life Affirmations. At the heart of each session is a look at where you may be currently through Real Life, trailed by a look at where you want to go, Better Life. Wrapping up each session space is provided for a personal journal.

The uniqueness of the Lift Study Guide is that the manual was authored by individuals who live disability lives every day. Scriptural application was researched and connected by the skill of a theologian, Chris Carter, PhD.
